Up House Land River Area Contact

75 private acres to roam:

The most sought-after real estate in Wisconsin is along the Mississippi river, and this is certainly one of the best! Parcels like this do not come onto the market often. The home is located in the center of 75+/- acres of pristine mature hardwood woodland. You will have mile of riverfront bluff top property. Privacy is the keyword here.

To the right is a Google Earth image roughly showing the property and house outlined in red. There aren't many like this one!

Many areas have been carefully maintained and manicured. Nature lovers can follow groomed trails and walking paths to find hidden treasures of all sorts. On this largely undisturbed and unglaciated land you can find natural caves, springs, rock outcroppings, a natural rock arch big enough to walk under, and wildlife and wildflowers galore.

Springtime here is a morel mushroom hunters dream.

Above is a picture from high on the bluff. The Burlington Northern Railroad looks like a toy far below.

To the left is a copy of part of page 38 of the 2005 Grant County, Wisconsin Plat Book. The property available is shown as 77 acres owned by Richard and Crystal Huhn along Dugway Road. The little town of Glen Haven lies in the valley to the south. Petry Lane, a dead end country road, leads out of this sleepy town north to take you up the hill to this jewel.

View this land on the Microsoft Teraserver or better yet Google Earth. If you look carefully, you can see (from satellite) the tiny clearing where the house is build high on the bluffs

With Effigy Mounds National Monument a few miles to the north, Indian mounds and artifacts are also a possibility here.

The yards around the house:

Step out the back door and stroll down to the observation deck out on the edge of the bluff. Hold your breath as you take in a one-of-a-kind view up and down the Mississippi. This is the place for both quiet meditation and crazy parties.

This is truly a special place. With uncounted bald eagles, hawks, falcons, herons, ducks, geese, pelicans (yes, pelicans), turkeys, fox, and of course whitetail deer, you will have plenty of company.

All around the house is a gardeners delight, with thousands of low maintenance perennial bulbs and plantings. Summer shade and beauty is provided by 100 year old oaks in all directions. Massive rock gardens made of native stone, natural plantings, and a koi pond complete backyard charm.
